(Topic 9) Some people prefer to live in a small town. Others prefer to live in a big city. Which place would you prefer to live in? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

I have always been living in big cities. And I love them! I love their bright lights, noise, and even traffic and smog! These are my emotion but there are really some specific reasons why it is better to live in a big city which it is difficult to argue with.

Analyzing pros and cons I would like to pay attention on the greatest plus of a big city – its opportunities. I mean career opportunities; opportunity to find many interesting people; opportunity to realize your potential. Everybody knows that the biggest and the most famous companies are usually located in big cities. You have a great variety of jobs, you have the opportunity to realize your plans and to start up your own business.

The social life is very active in a big city. There is a big number of exhibitions, concerts and performances held every day. You can enjoy the best theaters and museums of your country. There is usually such a big choice that you can’t visit all the sightseeing during the whole life. And what a small town can offer you? Watching the same performance at the theatre each month and waiting for guests from a big city!

Also I prefer to have a rest somewhere out at the weekend. You can try many restaurants, cafes, there are many places to spend your time with your children – parks, sportgyms and so on. They are opening every day, you should only choose your favorite.

Big city is the center of money and poverty; success and disappointment. Sometimes you feel tired of noise and smells of a big city. Sometimes I understand people who prefer to live in a small town. But if you are a strong person you will be able to find your place in a big city and you will be happy there.
