You carefully stated that there were two reasons to support your belief that pets should be treated like family members: their influence on children and their role as an emotional support.
You can add more details to each. Tell us how children learn responsibility and what is the affect of this on their own development.
For pets as emotional support, you could talk about the way pets provide unconditional love to their owners.
Some suggestions:
alive creatures = live (or "living") creatures.
The second sentence in the first paragraph is too long. Shorter sentences will make your essay easier to read.
