Topic: What do you want most in a friend-someone who is intelligent, someone who has a sense of humor, and someone who is reliable? Which one of these characteristics is the most important to you? Use specific reasons and examples to support your essay
-------------
I was once wondering about a question “What is the most important characteristic of a friend, humorous, intelligent or reliable?” I remember that I took my time, served myself with a cup of ice tea, lit up a cigarette, and began to think about it. I concluded that reliability is the answer.
First and foremost, friends are those who I could share both my happiness and sadness. Hence, they should be reliable enough for me to start my emotional expressions. If they are not trustworthy, can I tell them everything and find myself happier because I have shared all I have. If they are not reliable, they could rumor that I am not good, that I am awkward, or even that I am dumb. Therefore, I really need reliable friends who can share my feelings, my thoughts, and my mind.
In addition, reliability is a trait for a truthful friend. When I have gone through a rough time, he has been there to offer me a shoulder and to help me see the light of the life. When I do not know where I am going, but I know that he will always be there to lend me the courage and strength. However, he is not the person who always says “Yes.” to me in most cases, but gives me a hand in dilemma situations, such as making a hard decision, or choosing a mate.
All in all, choosing a right position to the question above is a complicated decision. It depends on your personality. Nevertheless, as an old saying goes “A friend in need is a friend indeed”, I wholeheartedly think that if I am to choose a friend, a person of reliability must be my biggest choice.
