I oppose the building of the Roadhouse Steakhouse and Tavern in my neighbourhood. It will not be worth the problems it will create. Increased traffic and bright lights from the parking lot will disturb the tranquility of our neighbourhood. Many similar restaurants already exist in the area.
Our neighbourhood does not need any more heavy traffic that a big restaurant would bring. The new high school has doubled the volume of traffic such that there are traffic jams at the two main intersections in our neighbourhood. The speed at which the high school students drive has caused several bad accidents this year at the traffic lights. Any additional traffic would create a dangerous situation!
The bright lights from the parking lot will disturb the homes nearby. No doubt the lights would stay on all night as taverns have long hours and close very late. This is not the type of disturbance the people and wildlife in our sleepy neighbourhood appreciate.
There are many similar types of steakhouses within a ten mile radius of our neighbourhood. People in our city always drive everywhere so the people in our neighbourhood are used to driving to eat and drink. Consequently a new restaurant would not be much more attractive than those that already exist. People prefer to have a variety of choices so they will continue to use the restaurants that are grouped together on the main roads. There they can chose seafood, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and steak. If one restaurant is full on Friday or Saturday night, then they can quickly chose another one in the group. That is why people go to the areas that have numerous restaurants together.
I believe that building the Roadhouse Steakhouse would bring the problems I predicted. The additional traffic, bright lights would be detrimental to our community. Furthermore in our culture people drive everywhere so it would not bring any benefits to the folks living in the neighbourhood. I encourage my neighbours to join me in opposing the plan in order to preserve our neighbourhood for ourselves.
