Although many people prefer to choose their own roommates, I prefer to have a roommate that the university assigns to me. I would like the university assigns a student therefore I can learn how to get along with new friends. I can learn how to communicate, adapt to new environment, and be tolerant.
When we lived together, there were many things need to be handled by us. We should discuss many living details like cleaning our room and rules we should abide by. As my experiences, these rules always need to be modified and we need to communicate with each other very often. Different people have different opinions, learning how to communicate with each other is important.
Living with a new roommate is a new experience. Different people have different customs and habits. Besides communicating, we need to adapt to each other. We should learn to be tolerant and respect everyone. Without tolerance, we cannot communicate well. There may be arguments between us, and we need to solve it by ourselves.
As a student for six years, I have many experiences about living with new roommates. I did not always get along with them very well but I learned a lot of things. Choosing your friends as your roommates may make it easier to communicate with, but you do not always have the chance to choose. There are different kinds of people around the world and I have many opportunities to meet one of them. Be open and try to make a new friend sincerely is what I want.
