Even though there are many great achievements in our country, I would rather choose Dali Stone as the thing, which represents our culture and Bai history. Since it is very common in my hometown, local people use it building everything from mansions to streets. There is a street named Yangrenjie that is made mainly by Dali Stone, in which most of foreign tourists live in there. Actually, Dali Stone dominates the area of the modern communities in Dali. Therefore, I choose stone as the most representing thing for my country.
First of all, you might say we can get stone everywhere, but I would say that Dali Stone is a very special stone, on which you can view some kinds of different pattern, You could love so much, because we could image many such scenery view as maintain, river, and clouds in the sky; or we could trace back our history in some sentiment, inspire us courage ourselves, and image the brilliant future. That way, we could think it is the represent of our culture and history.
Another equally crucial aspect is that Dali Stone is a kind of very useful material for construct and ornament, our ancestors have been used it since history. You can find out it everywhere in China, from the oldest Great Wall to The Inhibiting Palace, and others in the Middle Kingdom. Nowadays, we use it to decorate our houses, floors and wall skirts. It is the represent of our style of life in today, something like log cabinets in North America.
Because of concrete forest in the world, we hope human get alone with the nature, even some argue that human should escape from city to countryside, but it is not the most important point. In my point of view, I do think we should benefit from some nature resource such as stone instead of lumber, which cannot be exhausted. We should balance between demands of people and resource of nature. This is another point I choose Dali Stone as a represent.
In a word, if I choose one thing representing our country to an international exhibition, I absolutely choose Dali Stone as my unique choice. Through it, we can trace back history and look forward to future.
