QUESTION: Holidays honor people or events. If you could create a new holiday, what person or event would it honor and how would you want people to celebrate it? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
There are various of holidays listed in the calendar to celebrate numerous subjects: the national day in honor of the people who contribute to the foundation of our country, the new year day to say hello to the year to come and even the valentine's day to show our love or to treasure the memory we once held. However, among the variety of holidays, as I think, one item is missing: the day for the invention of steam engines.
The invention of steam engines has long been believed as the sign of industrialization. Everyone knows what industrialization means to us. It brought us our car, television, computer and almost anything we can mention. It's the sign that our human beings managed to go beyond our own strength or ability. Without the invention or even if the invention was made hundreds of years later, we would still keep horses at home!
So in order to treasure the significant day of our mankind, I suppose on the day, everyone should try to go to the science museum. And some museum may give an exhibition of the advanced science or technologies so as to inform people not only how science may shape our life but also where the up to date technology is going. Honors may be given to some inventors on the day and help them show their invention to the people. It will create the images of heroes in the mind of some children and by then they will love science more and learn to be creative.
