Some people enjoy change, and they look forward to new experiences. Others like their lives to stay the same, and they do not change their usual habits. Compare these two approaches to life. Which approach do you prefer? Explain why?

Somehow in life, everybody has formed some comparatively steady methods of living. Simplistically speaking, these methods can be divided into two sides: people prefer either to enjoy new experiences constantly, or to maintain a stable style. As far as I am concerned, I would like to vote for a changing life.

The main reason why I feel that change and new experience are important in our lives is because people are demanded to better themselves in modern society. With the advent of the information and technology age, everybody needs to keep pace with the quick alteration of life. Since no one can deny that people are often faced with new friends and involved in new environment, it is safe to draw the conclusion that moderate change is therefore necessary. Staying invariable, however, would result in stagnancy. As a case in point, a student who has just graduated from a college must seek a position that might lead to his successful future. Consequently, he will make new friends there and encounter new opportunities and adventures. If he cannot adjust himself to the coming situation, his first job might turn out to be a failed one.

What is more, I must point out that a person¡¯s life-span is only several decades, while the world is so versatile; there is no reason to lead an unaltered life and keep away from the colorful world. Dr. Bruce, the principal of Cambridge University, once was the chief executive officer of IBM. After 19 year¡¯s business career, he turned back to the campus. It is such a great change for him from a businessman to a scientific researcher; and he did extremely well in both fields.

To consider the question in a more practical light, a person¡¯s abundant experiences may conduce to his job application. He may place himself in a stronger position by presenting with more experiences ¨C which would mean an ability of dealing with different problems ¨C at a job interview.

Admittedly, I would not attempt to say that any change is by all means appropriate. What we need is an alteration which could properly jibe with the occasion.
