Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.
I used to spend my time with a large number of friends. I still have a lot of acquaintances that I have a good times with once in a while, but I don’t call them all my friends. Because with time I’ve learned that it is better to have just a few really close friends that you can trust and count on than a large number of people around you that you don’t really know.
Of course there are advantages and disadvantages to both having a lot of friends and just a few close ones. It might be more fun and more exciting to have a number of friends. Each one of them is different and you can experience a lot of different situations with each of them. They can all teach you new things in life and in case you have a dicision to make, you can get a lot of different opinions and benefit from their advice.
But when you have a lot of friends you are more likely to lose track of things. It is certainly harder and it takes longer to really get to know each of them very well since you have to split your time in order to be able to spend time with all of them.
When you only have a few friends it is easier to cultivate a really close and precious friendship. You can be sure that you know each of them very well. You know what to expect and how they react to things or particular situations. You know you can trust them and count on them in case you need help or maybe just somebody to talk to. Moreover, there’s no doubt that they will always give you good advice because of the fact that they know you very well, too.
All in all, I believe that it is good to have a lot of acquaintances in order to broaden one’s mind. But it is more important to have really close friends that will catch you when you fall.
