: : TOPIC 1 : : I would like to express the opinion in the topic of “ Some people think that it is important to earn large amounts of money, while others are satisfied to earn a comfortable living.” In my opinion , it is important to earn large amount of money. Different people have different needs depending on age ,job and social status. : : When we were little children ,we never thought about money because we asked for everything from our parents. Later, when we were teenagers, our needs enlarged . We liked to have fashionable clothes, see the movies or enjoy camping with peer group. And when we were adults, we needed bigger houses for our own families, petty cash for spending in our house and traveling in our vocation and saving for our future. And finally, when we were old, we would have some saving to see the doctor when we were sick. As the reasons I express, they indicate that money is more important when we are older an older. : : The need of money also depends on the job for which we are responsible. For example, : : If you do business, you need a lot of money to be your capital invested in land ,buildings and inventories, need money to hire you officer and need saving for liquidity and future investment. On the other hand, if you are a teacher, you also need money but not so much liked the need of businessman. You need money to further your study that makes your knowledge advanced , make you able to teach in the higher education or make you able to be a researcher. : : Furthermore, you need money when you have higher status such as promoted to be a manager, you need some pocket money to make you have good personality, to take care your followers or to entertain your customers. From the reasons I indicate, I think we would have confidence if we had money in our pocket. : : : : TOPIC 2 : : If I am asked ; If you must select a person to teach others to do a Job, which one of the following is the most important for you to make your selection?, I think that person should have the following abilities and personality. : : First, He or she should be a board-minded person intending other people to have knowledge and have some teaching skills. In my own experience,some job’s specialists may think that everyone should learn by doing or think that everyone can learn by himself or herself as they can do. : : Later, He or she must have the skill in that Job for example , you can not choose an english teacher to teach accounting for accounting students ,on the other hand you can not choose an accounting teacher to teach listening or speaking skill for linguistic students. : : Finally, the person chosen should have good personality because the first : : impression will help interpersonal communication . : : : TOPIC 3 : : Some students in the United States work while they are earning their degrees in college; other receive support from their families. I think that both alternatives have pros and cons. Working while studying, students get experience but their learning performance may be poor. On the other hand, getting financial support from their families not only make them have good scores in class but also make them have time to do activities in university. In any case, students’ education should be supported by themselves for the reasons below. : : Working while students are earning their degree in college has the following benefits. Firstly, they will have some working experiences for example; accounting students may work as assistant auditors while they are sophomores. This experience will help them be auditors or be accountants in the future. Secondly, earning while study will help students preplan for many things they have to do in time. Lastly, that activity make them can easily adapt themselves in the future working environment. : : For the reasons above, I think students should work while studying but well time schedule. Parents should help when they need such as, some advises, some emergency need in money. : : : Topic1(1st Revised) : : “Some people think that it is important to earn a large amount of money, while others are satisfied to earn a comfortable living.” In my opinion, I would say that it is more important to earn a large amount of money than to earn a comfortable living, and I have several reasons to support my ground. : : First, a large amount of money can bring about quality of life, including a comfortable living. We need money to purchase food, house, clothes and drugs which are the necessary things for our life. Furthermore, the large amount of it will help us have bigger house, luxury clothes, delicious food and emergency drugs. : : Second, we do not need money only for ourselves but we also need it to take care our family, including old parents and young children. We have to pay for our children’s tuition fees and have to pay for our parents’ doctor fees. If we have only little amount of money, sometimes we cannot do those. : : Finally, we also need money to progress on the job we are responsible for, for example, teacher may need money to study further in Doctoral degree and businessmen may need money to invest in a new project. They cannot success their future plans if they have only little money. : : To conclude my preference of earning a large amount of money better than that of earning a comfortable living, I would say that earning a large amount of it is necessary for getting good quality of life, taking care of family and progressing in job. : : : : : : : Topic 4 : : Some people like learning by reading while others like learning by doing. How to learn not only depend on the objective to utilize the knowledge but also depend on the situation, including career and position of the users. For me,I like learning by doing because knowledge gained from experience is more relevant and more practical to my job responsibility. To support my idea, we should compare and contrast the knowledge gained from two different options, then ask yourselves what your job is ,what position you are after that choose the way you like to. : : For mostly educated people, they always read books to study the things they are interesting. Some people have the aim of reading such as to use knowledge gained from books to practice, but someone has not that They like reading so the more they read the more they are profound. Whatever your aim is, the knowledge gained from books is only theory, you cannot work as a specialist or cannot handle your task smoothly if you are no experience. For example, you see an accounting teacher in the university read a lot of books, mostly those have no experience so if they have to work as an accounting manager, sometimes they cannot. : : On the other hand, if those educated people not only have knowledge gained from books which relevant to the job they responsible for but also have some experiences after graduate from the university, they will be certainly a successful manager. In the same example if you are only a follower under that manager excellent in handle job but not many experience, you may read only a few books, but experience play an important role in your daily work. For this example, it’s indicated that experience in practice is vital in the different position. : : To conclude from the example above, knowledge from books is not enough for our daily work. The more progress in position, the more experience pay an crucial role. Furthermore the different kind of work need the different knowledge. In my case, I am an accounting teacher and also an accountant, I already have knowledge gained from books but sometimes I think that I lack of knowledge gained from experience. So if the more experience I get, the more progress I achieve. : : : : Topic5 : : If I must select a person to teach others do a job, in my selecting, I will look for two important things in that person, which are ability to do the job and personality needed for teaching skill. : : For the first things, I will look for if that person has ability suitable for that job. To give example, if I have to choose one of the old employee to teach a new accountant who has no experience, that one should be able to handle all accounting functions meaning well educated in accounting and have some experience. : : For the second thing, I will look for if that has personality suitable for teach others do a job. For the same example, the selected employee should be a person intending others to gain knowledge and should have the first impression which help inter-personal communication. : : To conclude, if I must do the selecting to find someone to teach others do a job, the best should have ability suitable for that job and should have good personality to teach others. : : : Topic6 : : My uncle, John , is planning to move to stay permanently in Thailand in May 1st,2002. John is my father’s older brother and a Singaporean. After living in Singapore for 40 years ,he partners with my father to launch a new business in Thailand. As John never lives here for a long time ,I think there are many things he would like and dislike about that. : : For the positive things, if John lives in Thailand ,he will have bigger house with wider surrounding. Also ,he get more places to travel such as Chiangmai ,Phuket as well as Rayong. Moreover, he will be close to our family ,which can help him both business and dealing with customers in Thailand. : : For the negative things ,it is rather hard to adapt himself for living permanently in a new places or for leaving an old place which he stay for a long time. He have to eat foods which he is not used to such as Tom-yam-kung, Kang ,etc. Those foods is rather spicy. Moreover, he have to adapt to our country climate which is hotter and have more pollution than that in his country. : : To conclude ,though his plan has pros and cons , I think he will be convenient because our family welcome him to stay here and aid him for every things he need. : : Topic 7 : : I am always delighted when I get a present on the special day such as Birthday or New Year Day. That will be the present which the giver chosen or money never interested me. Only if the giver intend to give me, that make me appreciated. However, if I must choose which one I prefer to,I would rather the present one select for me than money due to the following reasons. : : First, that present always have meaning the giver like to express and contact to the receiver. When I purchase a present for my friend, I always think not only what will make him appreciated but also what will make him wonderful. For example, if I must give a present for my dear, that should be a big bunch of rose meaning love you forever. Consequently, If I get one, not only I am delighted but also I think about its meaning. : : Second, it is exciting to guess what the present will be. When I get a present ,I always eager to know what in the wrapped, what size ,also what color. Then, open the wrapped and know what it is. On the other hand, getting money on the special day, I never have this feeling. I use it to purchase the things I like but after that it disappears. Yet, the present is still in my hand and my memory. : : For the above reasons, I would rather getting a present chosen than getting money in the special day because not only that is the symbol of thought and feeling but also make me appreciated and exciting. Also, I keep thought and feeling in my memory forever. : : : : Topic8 : : Some people prefer to eat at food stands or restaurants. Other people prefer to prepare and eat food at home. Both ways have advantages and disadvantages. Although, sometimes I prepare and eat food at home ,I would rather eat it at food stands or restaurants than prepare and eat it at home due to the following reasons. : : First, as my work start from 8.30 a.m. to 17.00 p.m. , It is rather hard to get up early in the morning to prepare breakfast or rush to cook at home in the evening. To go to work on time, I get up about 6.00 a.m. ,drive to work and reach my office at 7.30 a.m. After that I have breakfast at my office’s restaurants. Also, in the evening I buy some already cooked food at food stands near my home and take it home for dinner. : : Second, it is not convenient to set the whole week menu and shop fresh food such as vegetable ,meat, and so on to keep it ready for cook everyday. At the time I set the menu, I prefer this menu but on the time I eat, usually I change my mind. So, not only that meal is not flavorsome but also fresh food prepared may decay. : : The last, although eat food at home is cheaper ,I enjoy taking my family to have dinner at the restaurant once a week because that make all of us have meeting and change the ideas with each other. Those will make the relationship in our family better. We can help each other to solve problem dealing all the week. : : To conclude, I prefer to have food outside my home such as food stands and restaurants more than have that at home because the first is more convenient, more toothsome ,and also more enjoy. : : : Topic 9 : : Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. Although, some human activity are unharmed such as having an exercise ,cooking ,etc., in my opinion, most of those are harmed for the following reasons and examples. : : First, mostly activity such as manufacturing , farming ,etc., cause pollution. In case of manufacturing, many plants release trash ,air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution to the surroundings. Also, in farming, farmers may use chemical fertilizer in stead of natural fertilizer which may causes soil damage. : : Second, mostly people have no responsible for environment. Mostly human activity damage environment ,but it may not be harmful to human if only we eliminate those contamination before. For example, If plants purify water and air , and also get rid of trash in the right ways, the surroundings will not be damaged. : : Lastly, government do not play a serious role to protect environment. We will see both people and factory leave trash on the roads ,in the rivers or in the atmosphere. Also, we get the effect of too many vehicles on the roads such as air pollution and noise pollution. The government should acknowledge both community and manufacturers about the crucial role of environment and also the effect if those are damaged. Moreover, there should be some regulations to protect the surroundings and some punishments to take action when people do not follow the regulation. : : To conclude, the more the time pass, the more the Earth damaged due to the reasons that human’s activity lead to the damaged environment, that most of human do not pay attention to clean the by-products of their activity and that government do not take serious attention in protecting the environment. : : Topic 10 : : Many people enjoy participating in sports for recreation; others enjoy participating in arts. Both hobbies have benefits. Which one we should enjoy depending on the benefits we are interesting in and the preference of us. : : Some people like to take part in sports such as swimming, playing badminton, or playing golf because they like to relax themselves from the tasks they are responsible for or make friends with their peer groups. Also, sports help strong and lower-weighted. : : On the other hand , some people like to participate in arts such as painting , drawing or dancing because those make them entertain and concentrate in something for a long time, as well as express thoughts and feelings on that they are doing. : : Although, both ways have benefits, I like to participate in sports. The sport I like is fitness because that makes me strong, relax and no need to take any equipment accompanied with me when I go to the fitness center. : : : Topic 11 : : Travelling is an essential thing for our life because it help us relax, entertain and have experience. Planning to travel, we must make decision with whom we will travel. Some people like to travel with a companion while other people like to travel alone. For me, I like to travel with a companion due to the following reasons. : : First, travel with a companion is cheaper than travel alone. When a holiday is coming, I always find another person who is decided to travel and seek information such as traveling places, accommodation and food, as well as all the cost I must pay. I find that cost per person when travel in group or travel with a friend is cheaper than when travel alone because we can share all of the expenses we spend in that trip. : : Second, travel by accompanied with someone is more enjoyable than travel alone. While we are on the trip we always meet the interesting places, food or persons and we like to change our opinion with someone and sometimes we may need some help from whom we go together. For me, everyday I concentrate in the job and cooperate with the others in my office, so I like to have another group that are my old friends whenever I can. : : To conclude, I like to participate with some friends to travel in some places rather than travel alone due to the reasons that the first is cheaper and more entertain. : : : Topic 12 : : In case of Thailand, a developing country, I agree with the opinion that government should spend the majority of budget on basic need rather than spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology due to the following reasons. : : First, the quality of life is the most important thing that should be concentrated prior to the others. People should satisfy those meaning to quality of life such as foods ,accommodations ,clothes and drugs. After those are enough, the other things such as developing agricultural sector , manufacturing sector and so on, which are the ways to create jobs should be supported. : : Later, Although the quality of life is crucial, buying or developing computer technology, which help evolving the other sectors such as education and business sectors is important ,too. But spending in that must spend a lot of money, which those should be invested in the more important project such as the public utilities to serve all sectors. In stead of spending their money, government should support the other sectors utilizing that technology. For example, private universities and companies may buy and develop their own computer technology. : : For the reasons above, the first thing government should spend money on is providing enough basic need of people but also should support the other sectors to develop or buy computer technology themselves. : : : : : Topic 13 : : I agree with the expression “Never, never give up” which mean to keep trying and never stop working for your goal. Everyone has a goal in each step of life such as a goal to be a doctor when a child, a goal to be a top manager when an adult, and so on. Some goals are easy to obtain while others are hard to succeed. But the more obstacles, the more strength and power. I think that the more I try, the more I close to my goal. To convince the above expression, I like to give one example in my life. When 16 years old, I studied at a secondary school , Saipanya, my goal was to studied in the government university. To succeed that, I studied hard everyday, read a lot of books and also did a lot of old entrance papers. All in all, not only able to pass the hardest test in my life, but also able to graduate the most famous university in Thailand, Chulalongkorn University. That made me and my family proud. Now I work as a teacher for 10 years and also position in an Assistance Professor. My next goal is to study DBA. in Accounting, which that make me have to succeed Toefl score 550. Because of the belief “Never, never give up” ,I try and try in the skills, listening, structure and reading, as well as writing,which never interested me so long. Not only I try myself, I ask for some help from the native, a kind one. I hope to surmount at least score 550. : : : : : Topic 14 : : Nowadays mostly businesses gain a lot of competitors and also business environment change rapidly. For example, there are more computer-vendors which sell a wide varieties of labels, each vendors try to differentiate their products, computers and accessories such as try to differ functions , sizes and shapes of them. To survive and to be the leader ,they need to have both excellent business strategies and qualified employees. They must plan how to have qualified employees to meet the demand of their business . A question certainly raised is “Should they hire employees for their entire lives?”. : : Although hiring all the employee lives will make them firm and have loyalty that also make them not active. Moreover they will not develop themselves to work under the changes of business environment. Some companies send their employees to train, but that not only waste a large amount of money, but also waste time. Because that do not meet the company need and also after those employees graduate they may resign. : : In stead of hiring for all employee lives, companies should allow the old employees early retirement ,choose the qualified employees to study under the agreement, which forces them come back to work and also contract specialists and high level managers to meet their rapid demand of man power. : : : Topic 15 : : I disagree with the statement ; face-to-face communication is better than other types of communication ,such as letter, email or telephone call because of the following reasons. : : First, sometimes I am too busy to communicate on the spur of the moment. For example, I call back to my friend ,accidentally meeting in my office hours and being so busy that I can’t talk with her. : : Second, sometimes I get bad temper and avoid to immediately communicate with anyone. : : Not until I get better do I call back. : : Finally, sometimes I have to request information from the person who I have never know before or who lives in another country, so it is more convenient to communicate by email or by telephone. : : To conclude, in my opinion, mostly situation communication by letter, email or telephone : : call is better than face-to-face communication because sometimes it is not convenient to talk immediately and also in some cases the person I contact may live in another country.
