People attend college or universities for different reasons. In my oponion the three main reasons to attend a college or an university are to prepare for a career , to increase knowledge and to gain new experiences .
In today's world making a successfull career is a big challenge as the competetion among people is increasing more and more with every passing day. In college or university we get proper education and training so that we can make right and successfull career decission and can servive in this competetive world. We go to engineering college to learn in and out about the specific field in which we want to make our career, we go to business schools to get specific training to make a successfull career in business. That's why it is very important to attend college because that gives you the cofidence to have a successfull career.
Next I believe that college or university is one such place where knowledge is in abandon and we can increase our knowlege bank by manyfold. At the college or university we can acquire knowledge not only about the subject of specialization but also about subject of our interest. There we have teachers who can bestow upon us their knowledge about the subject.But not only the teachers we can gain knowledge also from the books in the library, from the comupeter, from CD , DVD , etc. There is no restriction upon how much knowlege one can gather from these sources.
Besides career prepation and gaining knowledge I believe the third and the most important reason to attend a college is to gain new experience. Many people leave houses for the first time to stay at the hostels in the college or university campous to attend the college. There they learn to servive all by their own. They learn to take important decisions about their life, they learn to adjust with people from different social and cultural background, they learn to abide by the self defined rules thus making their life a disciplined one.
There are many more reasons to attend a college or an university but for me career preparation, gaining knowledge and getting new experiences, were the most important reasons because of which I attended college.
