To be free or to be restrained from group discipline, that is the case when you choose to travel by a guided group tour or by yourself. Normally, these are two basic ways in which people go traveling. Some people like them both. Some enjoy guided tours while others still prefer to travel on themselves. As far as I am concerned, I would rather vote for the latter. There are no less than three advantages for me to travel by myself as rendered below:
The most important benefit of traveling by myself is that I can get much more freedom than that of a group tour. Traveling on my own, I can decide when to start on my way and where to linger a little longer, I can spend more time on shopping and dining if I like, I can get up later without fear of missing my breakfast. For a man of Aquarius, is there anything more important than freedom?
There is another obvious advantage for travel by myself, that is, I could visit some interesting places where a tour group would never drop by. Check a typical itinerary for a tour group, you will find that most of sightseeing is focused on some major tourist attractions which are usually crowded of visitors and venders. And most of the attractions are temples and ancient architectures that I am not interested in. Take the case of my trip to Japan last year, I visited several small cities in Hokkaido that I found they are far more interesting than places listed in a schedule of a typical group tour to Japan.
Another reason why I advocate traveling by myself is, contrary to most people, that I like to make travel arrangement personally. It would be a headache for most people but I found a lot of fun in preparing tedious arrangements such as booking adequate hotels and making decision on travel routes. Especially when you surf through the Internet, you experience the excitement before you actually visiting the places.
A guided group tour is somewhat convenient and cost less, nonetheless, I still prefer to travel by myself, as you might already know that I am a person who loves to make decisions on my own.
