I remember how much shocked my parents were and how much scared I was when I decided to leave home to attend my college in a different city. But, that was the most important decision I had ever made.
Once I left home. I learnt the meaning of Independance and Freedom.At first I had felt somewhat uncomfortable of being away from home and away from the parental guidance. Because for the first time I was all by myself. Then I realised I was Independant. There I learnt to take life's important decisions, alone. My parents were not there to guide me through the right track. Whether it was about taking some course or was about making new friends, I had to make the all the decisions wisely all by myself.
Freedom or Independance always comes packaged with Discipline. If you miss Discipline, you miss the whole essence of Freedom. At my college, I was free to do whatever I wanted. There was no one to scold me for not doing my studies or for spending a lot of time with my friends. So I had to decide what do I want to do in life, Do I want to spend my time just playing and not doing anything fruitful or do I want to utilize the time and opportunity given to me for shaping up my life. I chose to shape up my life for a successful life and career ahead. At the dormatory we would get breakfast at a specific time, then classes would start at a specific time and would continue till the evening and after coming back from college, I had to decide how much time would I spend playing and how much time would I spend studying. That way I had learnt to be disciplined. And that is what is paying me off even today. At my work I can deliver my work right on time and I can set a balance between my work and other enjoyments of life.
Another important think that I learnt during my stay at the college is Adaptation. At the college people come from different places. They are of different races , culture, background. And there I learnt to be adaptive with other people, which I could not have learnt at home . At home since parents love us so much that they change everything to suit our style. But at the dormatory I was staying with other people and I learnt to be accommodating. I learnt to mix with them, I learnt to adjust with them, I learnt to accept them as they are.
All these qualities stated above helped me so much that today I can stand alone in this competitive world and can take my own successfull decisions. I can reach out to the world to meet people, to get benefited by them , to help them. That's why I always think what would have happened if I hadn't taken such an important decision in my life.
