Though the competition exists inevitably in the world, we should try to avoid that because of its detrimental effect to the society. Maybe sometimes the competition is beneficial, while it seemed that it brings to us more the harmfulness than the goodness.
Competition sometimes wastes the resources. From the countries to personals, when they face the competitions from the opponents, they can¡¯t keep calmness and objective. For the reason of trying to be the winner in the competition, they will find any means to defeat the opponent. Take the Soviet Union as an example, in order to enhance the statue in the world, the government emphasized the development of heavy industry and the military industry excessively while neglected the other fields. The result of the imbalanced development is that the dropping behind of the economy shaded the fruits of industry construction.
Competition resists the cooperation. In the modern society, people must learn to cooperate with each other. In the business field, in order to avoid the competition, many corporations including the ones producing the same product choose to unite together so that they can exploit a larger market with the concentrated advances. In the science field, the cooperation between scientist and the research institute seemed more important. In the frontier of many fields that involve not only one subject, the scientists familiar with different subject must associate with each other so as to dealt with the difficulties together.
. Competition also brings the confliction. Though what we prefer is to compete equally, in many situations, which is not practical. Someone maybe use the despicable means to defeat their opponents. For example, the relationships of the employees in some companies are very complicated because the competition mechanism is not so well established that the competition frequently results in the intensity among the employees.
In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that competition is ultimately more detrimental than beneficial to society
