When studying abroad,a foreign student has the chance of living with an American family.Some students feel that such a home-stay program is a valuable part of their total learning experience,while others think it little valuable .After pondering this question on many occasions,I finally reached the opinion that a home-stay progress is something worthy to do and I cannot skip it.My arguments for this point are listed as follows.
One of the primary causes is that a home-stay program can offer foreign students an English surrounding.Undoutedly,to study abroard need the master of a foreign language.So if they live with an foreign family ,they will practice the language most of the daytime.As a result,their English level can be improved fast.And the higher is their English level,the more they can study.
It might also be noted that a home-stay program is beneficial for foreign students to be familiar with the life ways and customs in American society.Living with an American family,foreign students will take part in most of their activities inevitably.For example,through having dinner with them,the foreign students can learn how to use folk,knife,napkin which are not their native tablewares.By learning from an American family,the foreign students can adapt to the American society in a short time.
Some students think a home-stay program little valuable in that their private life will be disturbed.This may be a disadvantage,but when carefully weighing the advantages and disadvantages,I'm more agreeable with a home-stay program.For the reasons that it can make English overwhelm foreign students,and it familiarize foreign students with American society.In a word,I'm in favor of the idea of home-stay.
