Topic178: The 21st century has begun. What changes do you think this new century will bring? Use examples and details in your answer.
1.With the strike of the new year bell, the 21st century has begun. While people are stepping into this new millennium, what they have to accept at the same time is changes in the new century. As far as I am concerned, there will be changes in the three aspects as follows.
2.Firstly, people will have better treatments in this new century will be better. For example, our medical treatment will definitely be improved and widely spread. In the past, small diseases such as the smallpox could kill people and only a few lucky persons have the opportunity to go to hospital and receive formal medical treatment. Others, and always most people, could simply resort to informal cures, say, the herbal treatment. In future, I believe, serious diseases, such as the cancer, AIDS, will just be a piece of cake and nearly all people will have at least basic medical care. Treatments in other area will be the same.
3.Secondly, our environment will be much better. In recent years, the pollution of environment is becoming an increasingly serious problem that gives rise to growing public awareness. Take my hometown as an example. A river here that used to be dirty and smelly is clearer and cleaner due to the ever-lasting protection by our government. In future, not only my hometown, but also all over the world will be far away from gray sky, annoying noise and effluvial waters.
4. Lastly, wars and conflicts will be greatly reduced in the coming century. Nations are calling for peace; governments are calling for peace; citizens are calling for peace; our voices are calling for peace! As the inclinations of most people are peace, we believe, with all our effort, the 21st century will be a peaceful world!
5. In summary, this new millennium will be completely different and I am looking forward to these changes, for change is a constant.
