Nowadays, television has become an important part of our lives. There are many people who think that television has destroyed communication among friends and family. In some cases, this statement may be correct. But I think everything has two sides. Whether television destroys communication or not is determined by the viewers.
We can divide all the viewers into two groups: active viewers and passive viewers. Active viewers are people who know what program they want. Before they turn on the TV, they would look over the program list to seek out the programs they want and record the time of playing. Only at the programs¡¯ time they watch TV. So television will not cost their much time. Furthermore, they can get a lot of information from television programs and it is very useful for them to communicate with their friends and family. In contrast, passive viewers don¡¯t know what they want. They always turn on television aimless and spend all their rest time in watching and switching channels. TV has become their habits instead of an information source. Thus they have little time to communicate with others, even their families.
From above we can see whether television destroys communication or not is determined by the people who watch it. So don¡¯t always complain that TV has occupied all your rest time. What you should do is trying to be an active viewer other than a passive viewer. Then you will find that you can make a good relationship with your friends and family.
