I believe that for children the best solution is to grow in the countryside, because it offers better health condition, more safety, and relocation is always possible at a more mature age.
Health conditions are one of the most important things for every person, and even more for children.
While air pollution is a problem afflicting many big cities, the countryside sports good air quality.
Moreover while living in the countryside natural food without preservatives is often readily available, providing children with a diet more suitable and balanced to their needs.
In addition to good air and good food, children living in the countryside have more possibilities of playing outdoor games, developing good physical health.
Another aspect to take in consideration when chosing whether it's better to grow up your children in a big city or in a rural area, is emotional well being, and it's directly affected by security.
The first aspect of security is criminality and, in the countryside, children are less likely to be faced with it. Even if not directly involved, living in contact with crime is not positive for a child emotional health.
Besides in the countryside there is less risk for a child to be involved with the risks due to traffic.
In a smaller community children feel like in a big family: they feel that everybody is a friend, they feel protected, and they feel loved.
Taking in consideration those advantages of living in a big city, like better structures and good schools, we have to balance them with what is important for a child, and a what age.
In the first years of life it's better to live in an environment that is healty both emotionally and physically. The body is developing, and the character is formed, so formal instruction is less inportant that a balanced character and a positive view of the world.
As children become more conscious of their position, and are more concerned about formal education, relocation to city is always possible, especially to attend high school or college.
On the other hand for children grown in a big city, relocating to the countryside is often a rare opportunity, and they could miss some different view of the world.
In my opinion the choice of where growing up a child has to be based on the needs that are typical of a young and growing body. When we think about this, it becomes clear that health, security, and opportunity are the most important thing, and should be placed in the first place.
