There are various types of work/occupation/activity that one can involve oneself in, as a primary occupation or as one's hobby, in the modern world today. One way of classifying them and choosing among them would be be to seperate them in terms of those occupations involving working with people and those that involve working with machines or objects.
The professions/occupations that involve working with people include: Business-management, Lawyers, Policemen, Travel agents, those in the hospitality business; like airhostesses and waiters, those providing services like beauticians, salespersons, those providing health care such as doctors and nurses.
The other kind of activity; those that involve working with machines or objects, include the profession of engineers, data -entry personnel, and office workers involved in just paper-work,workers in an assembly line of a factory, artists, architects etc.
Both kinds of activity has its pros and cons and choosing between the two is just a matter of personal preference. AS for me, my choice would be to go for a profession that involves working with people!
Working with people is the more cheerful kind of activity.Everyday there is somebody to look forward to meeting, talking and pleasing. It is an active job that involves a lot of incertainty, as we have to take the human aspect into consideration. It may require flexibility of time and schedule on your part…..but at the end of the day, you get more feedback and if you do a job well, there is a much more job satisfaction.
A job involving working with machines/objects looks attractive too, in the sense there is less variability and less emotional involvement here. Even if you are in one of your bad moods it is only your PC or machine that needs know! But then, you feel more isolated and even if you do your job excellently, day in and out, you may still not get as much as a positive feedback .
Working with people involves using a lot of psychology and interpersonal skills.It is challenging and varied. No two days can be exactly the same. Maybe there are people with inclination and abilities more suited for the other type, but all things considered, working with people- that’s the job for me!!!
